Jungjak Tea Bags
Origin: Jeju Island, South Korea
Flavor: sweet grass, miso, bamboo
Korean green teas have a long, fascinating, and turbulent history. Here in the United States they are difficult to find but we've had a great time getting to know a few. The flavor of Korean teas tends to be midway between Japanese and Chinese green teas: a fresh, green flavor that is also mellow and easy to drink. Our Jungjak yields a refreshing, brothy cup with no astringency and bright yellow-green color. Look for notes of grass, hay, bamboo, and even a touch of miso.
There are four main harvests of tea in the Korean growing calendar; Jungjak is typically harvested between mid-May and June which makes it the third plucking. Only the young leaves (no buds) are used in Jungjak. This particular Jungjak is actually harvested a bit later in the summer (mid- to late-June). Jeju Island is a volcanic island with warm year-round temperatures and a lot of rain, perfect for growing tea.
Looking for loose leaf? Right this way!
Sample pounches contain loose leaf tea.
Jars are powder coated glass mason jars and measure approximately 3 inches in diameter by 5 inches tall.
These are the best way to store your tea! They are totally air tight and protect tea from UV light. If you buy a jar the first time and be sure to save it: you can simply order a refill bag when you need more!
