A blend of organic Japanese green tea & toasted rice that was popularized in Japan during World War II when civilians added rice to their tea to stretch the supply. This fragrant blend has a fresh green flavor that contrasts nicely with savory toasted rice. Low in caffeine, it goes well with meals.

 

INGREDIENTS: organic Japanese green tea, organic toasted rice

CAFFEINE: Low. Green teas typically range from 30-50 mg of caffeine per cup but Genmai Cha is on the low end of that range since it is partially made up of rice (which has no caffeine). For comparison, coffee ranges from 80-120 mg per cup.

  • Sample pouches contain loose leaf tea.

  • Jars are powder coated glass mason jars and measure approximately 3 inches in diameter by 5 inches tall. They are totally air tight and protect tea from UV light. If you buy a jar the first time and be sure to save it: you can simply order a refill bag when you need more.

  • The tea bag mesh is made out of a plant-derived, compostable material called PLA. There are no plasticizers, microplastics, or adhesives that will leach into your tea.

I looked everywhere for you (the tea)

I consumed this tea during a plane ride to South Korea and was told often it was Korean tea. (It's really Japanese but don't say that to a Korean) I was able to find a box of it and was happy until I ran out. I found this tea and I was so excited. I ordered the tea bags and was emailed that they didn't have the bags but I could get it loose leaf free of charge. It really tastes exactly to what I got in Korea and I offer this to anyone who comes over as a nice nutty warm drink. Great customer service and an amazing representation of this type of tea
